Development of an innovative technology
for the production of wire rod from high-strength aluminum alloys of the 2xxx, 5xxx, and 7xxx series.

Project number: POIR.01.01.02-00-0044/15

Operational Programme: Smart Growth Operational Programme 2014–2020
Priority axis I: “Support for R&D activities carried out by enterprises”
Action 1.1: “R&D projects of enterprises”
Sub-action 1.1.2: “R&D works related to the creation of a demonstrative pilot installation”

Project value: 74 558 715,60 zł

Contribution from European Funds: 29 823 486,24 zł

Implementation period: 01.04.2016 – 31.01.2021

Project objectives:

Elaboration, within the course of R&D work, of a new, globally innovative technology for continuous casting and rolling of wire rod made
from high-strength aluminum alloys of the 2xxx, 5xxx, and 7xxx series, homogeneous in chemical composition and mechanical properties, intended for further mechanical applications.

Planned outcomes:
  • Development and implementation of a production technology for wire rod from high-strength aluminum alloys using continuous casting and rolling methods,
  • Reduction of energy consumption in production (gas by 30%, electricity by 20%),
  • Reduction of emissions of pollutants such as dust, metals, chlorides, CO₂, SO₂, CO, and NOx by 35%,
  • Reduction of production waste by 30%.
